  1. Hi Doc,

It has been while. Do you have a podcast that explain about martha moment and why superman utter martha name instead of saying save my mom to batman as his last word? I’m interested to hear your thought about it.

Also interested to hear your opinion about batman PTSD trigger during martha moment

    • I don’t think I do because I still get people who want to argue (not discuss) my- admittedly minority- positions on Lex’s intentions for Doomsday & Keefe’s connection to the checks. I have, for myself, a logically consistent interpretation, but it’s unfortunate that people take that as an assault of their preferred interpretation. I only shared the other two because I think they opened avenues of discussion and insight into other character traits, like Lex’s last-ditch efforts and Keefe’s anger. I don’t think my why-martha interpretation has much additional insight other than logically consistency. That said, the main clue I’ll give is to consider Clark’s character: is he a particularly manipulative person?

On Batman’s PTSD, I know I’ve touched on it many times all over the place, but no specific cite / episode comes to mind right now; I tend to rush over it since the podcast is Superman focused and that’s mostly Bruce’s deal, hah. If I remember anything in more depth, I’ll let you know.

      • I never liked the idea that Clark knew the specific effect that the name would have on Bruce, but I think it’s at least on the right track. My thought was that Clark was making a last minute emotional appeal to Bruce’s better nature, so he used the name ‘Martha’ to humanize the victim and garner sympathy from the one man with the power to save her. Now, I’ve never been to journalism school, but that just seems like an obvious reporting technique to me.
